Was wondering what type of business you seasoned walkers ask for donations?

Look in your Avon Walk for Breast Cancer book you received when you signed up everyone.  I'm sure there is a business letter in there.

We had a great business response - I didn't realize it was so great until we got to the walk and I heard from others.  We sent letters to businesses that we had a personal connection with, but this year, we're branching out!  We offered the businesses a chance to have their logo featured on our team t-shirt for $250, minimum.  We got reponses from 2 building supply companies, a snow/ski park, a Starbucks (let them know in advance), an insurance company and of course the t-shirt advertising agency (our team t-shirts were free, they didn't give us money if I can remember correctly).  My company didn't give us money per see, but they allowed me to do pizza lunches/basket raffles every week for the month of March, so I put the "Family and Staff at . . ." NOT using their logo.  Needless to say, I'm pretty sure I will have their logo on my t-shirt and a $250 donation this year!!!  This year, we will be getting the business sponsors early and selling the t-shirts for a few months before the walk, therefore multiplying the donations and the advertising for our business sponsors.  I sent out a special October e-mail at the beginning of this month to everyone I know, thanking our business sponsors again and encouraging everyone to support their busninesses especially during this Breast Cancer Awareness month.  BTW, our walk was in D.C.  Hope that gives some ideas!

Hi Heather and Melaine Brock, 

I am walking Charlotte this year with my mother. I have not met goal :(.

 

I would LOVE to see the letter sent to businesses, I am heading out tomorrow to personally ask for donations, and will put together a letter this weekend to send out Monday. Any help would be heaven sent!

May I also see the awesome letter? What a great great idea!!! I worked for some great companies with lots of contacts and have lists I can send to! Your help would be so appreciated!
