I have been doing the walks since 2004 and have been through more fanny packs, backpacks, etc.  The very best one that will hold everything you need is the one available through the Avon Walk store.  It will hold one 22 oz. water bottle, too.  Then go to a sports store and find your perfect water bottle, however, make sure it has a wide mouth. Most of the metal ones don't and when you try to fill with Gatorade, you'll  likely get splashed, etc. and then have to deal with the sticky for the rest of the walk.

I use a Nalgene, but there are others.

Welcome back!  Good for you!

My fanny pack is old but ready for its 5th walk. Go to a sporting goods or camping store and try them on. I like mine because the water bottle sits in pouch in the middle of the pack and is accessible while I'm walking (and doesn't lean to one side because of the weight of the bottle!). It also has three different zipper compartments for my stuff. I like Judy's suggestion of a wide mouth bottle so you can easily fill it without spilling.

I just want to add that I have learned to have my fanny pack in the front an dnot the back.  The Avon pack is compact and it gives me easy accessibility to EVERYTHING, including the water bottle.  It is amazing how what you LOOK like goes out the window at these walks.
