thanks,

We'd LOVE to have you! I was a solo walker the first year the walk came to Houston and they immediately asked if I wanted to join their team - I've never walked alone again and have made some amazing life-long friends. I'm going to send you a friend request so that I can provide you with some information that will hopefully answer your questions. Are you going to the anniversary party at Minute Maid tomorrow? It'll be a lot of fun and a great opportunity to get a feel for what's to come in April.

Permalink Reply by Jennifer Herring on February 8, 2012 at 1:04pm I missed the event at minute maid, boo! I am so eager to get involved in this walk. I also have a friend that wants to walk also, we are going to a general meeting in Tomball that is coming up. I would love any information you can send to help me out, im walking in honor of a long time friend that is now fighting breast cancer for the 2nd time in 12 yrs. She is my inspiration, she is such a trooper!
Thanks for taking me in! I look forward to meeting you all!
So happy you're joining and bringing a friend! General information meetings are great and you'll get a lot of good information from them and get an opportunity to meet some of the people that put it all together. Be sure to tell the friend you're walking for about the closing ceremony as they're all invited and it's a great moment to share with her. You'll find that when things start to hurt and you get tired, you'll be able to keep going knowing it's the least you can do for your friend and how if she can fight for her life, you can do this in her honor. It's such a great feeling and one you'll never forget!
Our team has members in Houston as well as all over the country that fly in for the event. People train together when they can and the Avon people also send out emails advertising training walks, so that's very useful. We're all ages, men/women, and survivors and supporters, so if you're looking for a great support system that believes in the same cause, you'll find we're the best around - not to mention we're all nuts and spend more time laughing all 39 miles than anything else. :)
Let me know when you and your friend register and I'll be happy to add you to our team roster!

Permalink Reply by Jennifer Herring on February 9, 2012 at 8:44pm Great! We are going to the meeting Wed. 15th in Tomball and will register. What is the exact age limit, my cousin wants to walk with us also?
Walkers have to be 16 years old by the day of the event. Be sure to tell them when you register that you want to be on the Houston Solo Strutters team so you can show up on our team roster. If we don't see it after about a week from registering, let me know and I'll have it pulled over and added. Have fun next week!!
Permalink Reply by Beccie Price on February 13, 2012 at 12:03pm Hi Beccie! I'll add you to the team roster and forward you the newsletters with the information on the luncheon. We also have a private Facebook group where we post a lot of information, so if you'd like to join that, just let me know.
Permalink Reply by Melissa Netherton on March 7, 2012 at 9:34pm I am a first time walker in Houston. Would you happen to still be looking for team members? I have been registered for a while already and have been working on my fundraising and training. I would just like to be part of a team.
Absolutely!! I'll have you added and will contact you with all our info! Welcome to the Solos!!

Permalink Reply by Anabell Huizar on March 10, 2012 at 10:37pm Hi Solo Strutters!
I would love to join your team! This will be my first year and I really don't want to walk by myself. What should I do to join you? Where do you train?
Here to end it!
