My team just did a fundraiser last weekend called Martini & Massage and it was very successful! We found a martini bar and then had several massage therapists come in with their chairs. Tickets were $15 and you got a pink martini and a 10-minute chair massage. We also had a raffle and sold pins and magnets. We raised almost $1900 in 4 hours and the owner of the bar definitely wants us to come back and do it again!

What a great idea! Two thumbs up for your group. blessings, cheri'
That is a very good idea. Thanks so much for sharing that with us!
Thanks! I love to share information with others to help them raise money and awareness. We are all in this together and it's the least we can do is help one another, especially during these difficult economic times. Our team has found that if you create something fun and that attacts people...they will come out and show their support. We do events throughout the year and usually try a few new ones to see how they work out. :)

We are an open team, so if anyone is looking for others to train with and find support, please contact me. Our base is in the NW suburbs of Chicago (McHenry/Crystal Lake area).

Some of us have friends who are therapists and we just asked them and they were all willing to donate their time. They handed out their cards and had a tip jar, but all of their time was totally voluntary. And they all said they would definitely do it again. :)
In Chicago, you can contact both Cortiva (Chicago School of Massage Therapy) www.cortiva.com and Soma Institute. At Cortiva, they send out a weekly email alerting alumni of volunteer opportunities. The contact person for that at Cortiva is Susan Barney. You can find her email on the faculty/staff pages. That way, you get fully licensed therapists coming in. With most volunteer opportunities, it is required for the therapist to bring their own chair, but in exchange for volunteering their time, they are allowed to hand out their business cards/promo information and also can set out a tip jar (if they so choose). Good luck!
Michelle, I love your idea of Martini and Massage - I'll certainly look into that one! Another idea is a spaghetti dinner with a raffle. This will be my second year to walk and we'll do this fundraiser again as it was a huge success. All the items for the meal were donated by local businesses! We hit the pavement and asked all kinds of businesses for donations of items for the raffle. I and 4 others worked this dinner and served from a legion hall. Just another idea!

Cynthia,
How did you go about setting up the spaghetti dinner and where are you located? How much do you usually make and about how many people attend? What do you charge for the dinner?

We have not done anything like this before, but do a nice dinner every year at a local French restaurant before Mother's Day and also in October. We also have a raffle and last year raffled off a Coach purse...doing it again this year because who can resist buying chances to possibly win one!

Good luck with a possible Martini/Massage fundraiser! It was fun and I think you'd get a good turnout. :)

Dinner was $7 for adults, $4 for children over five, under five free. We charged these amounts so they had change for raffle tickets. Raffle tickets were $1 each or 12 for $10. We held the spaghetti dinner in a Veteran's Hall (meeting place in a small rural town). Only 125 people came (alot for the town though), but it was the only Friday we could have it in the month of May and it was unfortunately the holiday weekend. We had free advertisements on the outdoor sign and local newspapers. Blurbs on the local radio station. Most of our money came from the raffle. This little town has 4 pubs, and three/four men took the tickets over to those pubs. We had about 40 items for our raffle. Best one there was 4 tickets to a White Sox Game (great seats with free parking). I hope that helps!
Did you make $15 profit from each ticket or what did the bar charge you for the pink martini? Where did you buy the pins and magnets? Great idea! I'm looking at doing a Bowling for Boobies event, but I think this would be fun to do too! Maybe a Cinco de Mayo theme--margaritas instead of martini's! I'd be interested in hearing about the cost from the bar. Thanks for sharing!

Cindy,

Here are a couple of website I bought product from last year.

www.positivepromotions.com
www.buckwholesale.com
www.orientaltrading.com

But if you google "breast cancer awareness product" there are lots of sites out there that sell pink ribbon product.

Hope these suggestions help
