I like to know what type of snacks do you carry in your backpack.  I know to have water.  I will have my gum, towel, shoes, and socks, jacket.

Moleskin.....In the band-aid aisle of any store. I like the blister band-aids even better.
One thing to remember..........only use it on event weekend if there is NOT a blister already there! As the adhesive can and will tear the blister, and then you are in for a world of hurt! I am a nurse for a podiatrist......besides knowing from my own personal experience!

The foot care aisle at Walmart/Target/Walgreens etc, has the mole skin
Actually, in my stores the moleskin was not with the band-aids - it was with the foot inserts. Maybe try both aisles.
Dry socks!!

When I was still walking (now I've gone over to the Crew Side of the Force), I carried my cell phone (which includes a camera), ID, insurance card, credit card, small amount of cash, a very small ibuprofren bottle, and at least one (sometimes two) pairs of dry socks.

Everything else is provided along the way and I went with the logic that my extra supplies didn't need to be well-traveled supplies. :-)
I assumed you are signed up already right? If so, if you log into your Avon Walk page there is a file called "complete training guide" On page 9 it has a fanny pack checklist. It pretty much covers all the things people mention here but it's in a nice list. I'm not sure why they don't send this in our welcome package - there is really good information in there and I'm sure some people don't know to look for it.

I love the starbucks suggestion! I didn't think about stopping anywhere other than event rest stops but I know I will need at least one caffeine drink. Another thing someone suggested to me (I'm a first timer) is lifesavers or other hard candy.
I didn't even think about carrying a backpack. I've got a camelback that is worn around my waist b/c I can't stand walking with anything on my shoulders (chafing!) but the pockets are small on that thing..I have room for a phone and small snacks but maybe I'll ditch the snacks in favor of some extra socks! lol Now I'm thinking a fannypack might be a good addition to my gear list.

My MUST have are those little packs of "Gu" energy gels....they really give you boost...highly recommended!
Forget moleskin and band aids get glide and apply ti before you walk...under breast, inbetween thighs and all over your feet. You can get it at places like REI, Modells Sports---It's a life (and body) saver
I totally agree....Body Glide is great and will be in my fanny pack with the dry socks. I tried moleskin during one training walk and it was hard to remove and left a sticky residue. Nanette's comment in March confirmed my concerns about the moleskin and I don't plan on using it again.
