When my mother in law best friend past away from breast cancer and then my bestfriend lost her mom to the disease also. I didn't really know what breast cancer was at that time. It wasn't until my cousin called me and told me that the person who meant the world to me was diagnosed. So I denied it for along time and then went to research breast cancer on webmd. My aunt was 33yrs old when she was diagnosed and she had a set of 2 year old triplets also the baby of 8 kids. She found out Oct. 17,2005, It hurt me to see her struggle with this disease. So late Feb. me and my aunt the person who watch me be born and was there for the birth of my 3 children needed some support. So we were planning on doing the avon walk together we both was so excited about it , but 3 weeks later her health took a turn for the worst. After battling with breast cancer for 2 1/2 yrs she past away at the age of 35 yrs old March 19, 2008, shortly after our phone conversation late Feb early Mar. Breast cancer does not run in our family at all so I was told. It was the hardest thing ever to deal with, showing up at that morning ceremony and signing her name on the banner it was unreal because she was suppose to be there with me. I didn't have a chance to train because I was still dealing with her lost but I got out there and the first day I did 26.2 miles and was in no pain the second day I finshed the 13.1 and it wasd the most remarkable moment in my life besides giving birth.lol!. I know my aunt was so proud of me. The miles was really a big deal it was really about spreading awareness, i'm 27 yrs old and I have girls, I did it for them and the other mothers, daughters, sisters and so on I'M IN IT TO END IT. I refuse to let the enemy win..
