Was wondering what type of business you seasoned walkers ask for donations?

I went to every business I could think of or went into. I would ask for a donation. If they couldn't give a cash donation I asked if they could donate an item for a raffle. Examples: Restaurants, grocery stores, car dealerships, pottery…

Have you registered for the walk? Once you register, it will take a few days to receive an email with your log in information.

I only asked businesses to donate gifts for prizes for Bunco... Restaurants, Hair Salons, Florists, etc.

I think I just pasted this on my own page..
No problem! Glad I could help.

Here are a few ideas:

1. Make a list of everyone you think would donate. If you're not sure, ask anyway. (those are normally the people that will donate more.) You don't know unless you ask.
2. Create a letter on why you're walking. Mail the letter to the people who would like to receive snail mail, and would send in a check. (I included self addressed and stamped envelopes to special individuals. ie Grandma's, older relatives, etc).
3. Send email to younger generation. A lot of people will receive the email and then go directly to your page, donate, and then move on. I also asked that my friends/family forward the email to anyone they believe would contribute to a cure. It is AMAZING how many people you don't know donate. Many people thank you for walking for their loved ones.
4. Facebook. *If you don't have one, it's a great resource! You will reconnect with friends/family and will see how passionate you are, and donate. *On Valentines day I put a poem, and received $125.
5. Blog - You can blog on blogspot.com, or even on your fundraising page. People love to see your progress.
6. Send follow up emails. This year I plan to send out a monthly newletter with my fundraising progress, my training updates, and ways friends and family can help.
7. Fundraising events. My Bunco nights were successful last year, so that's why I'm asking other friends and family to host instead of donating. They will pay the same amount in food/supplies as they would if they donated, however they will help you raise more money!
8. Send thank you cards/emails immediately.
9. I also send a thank you postcard with photos from my walk, in hopes the same individuals would donate again the following year.
10. I've also thought about Garage Sales- People could give you their items to sell (perfect time for spring cleaning) and the profit goes to your walk, and you will donate (get rid of) their old junk.

Hope that helps!

Bunco is a lot of fun. Send me your email and I'll send you the documents and details. I'm sure you have friends that play and they can show you how to play. You seriously learn in 5 minutes. Let me know if you need any help.
