THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATION!

I am grateful for your support. When I was a little girl I remember my maternal grandmother losing both of her breasts to cancer. It was long before plastic surgery or silicone implants and I distinctly remember the impact it had on her. I was there are she did make-shift physical therapy as none was provided. I remember for Christmas my grandmother receiving silicone pouches that you place into your bra... she cried... and smiled with glee. I am proud to walk to continue the prevention, the research, the aftercare, and the knowledge needed to help every survivor smile.

On January 14, 2010 I lost my paternal grandmother to a rare form of lymphoma. Cancer, in any form, robs us of those we love and I want to do my part to help.

I personally found a lump in my breast this past year. I had just separated from my husband and was alone trying to deal with the fear it brought forth. My mother came down from Michigan to go with me to the women's center. I remember sitting in a waiting room with many other women, all in robes, all dealing with possible or confirmed issues. I remember the discomfort of the mammogram, and the ultrasound. My lump turned out to not be anything worrisome. I remember my relief. I would not pretend to understand what a breast cancer victim would truly feel... and I hope to help many other woman never have to know either.

Thank you for reading this. Thank you for donating.

I truly appreciate your support,
Jessie

I know exactly how you feel. In the past year I have had 5 mamagrams, 2 ultra sounds, an mri, and a biopsy in which they were able to remove the entire mass. It turned out not to be cancer but the fear over the initial 3 months that it took to get the word was torture. I remember waking to my cell ringing, it was the lab. Their exact words were your left breast is fine but I had masses in both breast and I was terrified. I went in for test after test and the insurance went through and everything was approved so quickly that I even thought that was a bad sign. I still have a lump in my left breast and have to have mamagrams every 6 months. I try tnot to think about it but that fear is always lurking. I'm glad you did not have cancer.
