I am excited as you are , yet a little nervous of the unknown. My Avon buddy has been good at giving me updates on what to expect. It will be a great thing for you to be a part of a good cause and to visit NYC for the first time. I do know that There is a place just for us walkers to sleep during the night. They said it has all of the comforts of home, so that is all I know about that. I know we will be fed meals which is why they ask if you are vegetarian or not, and the rest I have been learning along as i go as you have. I would just make sure you bring a backpack with some change of clothing and toiletries which I will do myself. Other than that, there will be some training walk sessions for each of us to attend. I am going to the one in NYC next Saturday. Check your training list of your personal page and see if there are some in your area. I just registered last Friday, so I am scrambling around like a chicken with my head cut off. Would you be interested in trying to make a group of us solo walkers?
